Tour Cusco - Maras - Moray - Salineras
Trekking to Machu Picchu make a journey from one day to the salt mines Maras preincaicas and its adjoining village. Then go through the ancient Inca laboratory (circular terraces) in Moray. City break and enjoy a less touristy choice in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The views of the imposing glaciers of the sacred mountain or Apus, are also an impressive part of this unique course of his journey through salineras maras moray. See the natives working in the fields with plows and traditional tools of the empire. A true sign of the Andes of Peru.
Cusco Plaza de Armas:

Cathedral City Cusco:

Tour the town of Maras:
A 48 Km. Northwest of Cusco (1 hour drive). It was an important town during the colonial period; as demonstrated by the church and mansions that still have the shields of indigenous nobility in their facades. Currently its main economic activity is agriculture.
Tour Maras:
10 Km. From Maras (30 minutes by car or 2 hours on foot). also called Salinas de Maras. Are salt mines whose exploitation is as old as the Tahuantinsuyo. The settlers channel the saline water emanating from the ground-from a waterhole called "Qoripujio" - to pools in which, for effects of the sun, evaporates leaving the surface of the salt which is then treated to be sold in the local market . In view of all of about three thousand wells it is spectacular. The villagers show visitors their ancestral techniques allowing them to participate in the collection.
Tour the archaeological site of Moray:
A 9 Km. Northwest of the city of Maras (25 minutes by car). It consists of 4 slightly elliptical galleries, which the people call "muyus". The largest gallery has a depth of 45 meters and the average height of each platform is 1.80 meters. It is considered that the site was an important center of agricultural experimentation during Inca times. Through the use of concentric terraces and because the temperature at each level are different from each other, they have reproduced all the ecological zones covering the Tahuantinsuyo empire.
Tour Maras Moray Salineras
You will start driving from Cusco in the morning for about 40 km passing through the town of Maras, which has an interesting mix of Inca and colonial influence.
We will proceed on to Moray, which has an impressive Inca monument of giant terraces in the shape of nearly perfect circles that is believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation, because of the increasing temperature of the terraces the more you descend further into the complex and the well-developed irrigation system.
From there we will head to Salineras, the salt mine. At the salt mine you will see many ponds filled with salt from a natural underground salt spring that comes from the adjacent mountain. The inhabitants of the area have worked and harvested the salt the same way since the time of the Incas. You can watch them work and even buy a small bag of the fresh salt to take home and use in your kitchen. We'll stop for lunch near Salineras (not included in the tour).
After the visit, the car will transport you back to Cusco.
