DETAILED ITINERARY MACHU PICCHU TREKKING

MAGIC JUNGLE 3days and 2nights

Trekking Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Magic Jungle - Monkeys - Toucans - Macaws

The Magic jungle journey begins with a reception at the airport, where after we will transfer to the office in Puerto Maldonado for check-in. Later we will head to the Bello Horizonte Lodge where we will stay; the trip will take 40 min. Now the real adventure begins. First we cross the continental bridge and continue by the interoceanic highway until the point of “km 14”, then we will enter the jungle, passing by our respective rooms which have a real traditional Amazonian style (complete with private bathroom, mosquito nets, and a balcony with either chairs or hammocks), and finally lunch will be waiting for us before leaving to our first excursion. Meanwhile hiking by the Trocha Castañal trail, we will visit the botanical garden and butterfly habitat (if we’re lucky we will see animals like monkeys, macaws, toucans, and more from the lookout).

Trekking Day 2: Madre de Dios - Reserve Tambopata - Ecological Reserve Taricaya

We’ll get up really early (4:30am) to leave for our cruise on the river Madre de Dios toward the clay lick, a very beautiful place where we will see many parrots of different species, a great and colorful spectacle.  We will eat breakfast and continue our trip on the Madre de Dios River. Thereafter you will have to continue the journey by two options:

Option 1 – Reserva Tambopata – where we will take a short, but beautiful hike through the jungle to Lago Sandoval (Lake Sandoval), a lake known for its black caimans and giant otters.

Option 2 – Ecological Reserve Taricaya – where we will observe the turtle conservation center where animals are rehabilitated and eggs are in good conditions, where they will stay until they are ready to return to the river. Afterwards the trip will take us through the Canopy Walk where you will walk on suspension bridges high up in the trees and climb up to platforms with panoramic views of the big and mysterious jungle.

Trekking Day 3: Jungle - Puerto Maldonado
